why counselling?

Life presents us with many challenges. Some we may find easy to manage, we learn from them and we move on. Some prove a lot more difficult and can even start to feel as though they may overwhelm us.

We may feel stuck, powerless and unable to respond creatively. Our capacity to experience life as rich, full and satisfying  can be seriously impaired and we feel unable to see the wood for the trees. We may seek out solutions which offer short term relief but which ultimately prove to be destructive both to ourselves and those around us.

I have a firm belief that most people could benefit from counselling at least once in their life. Life for many can be complex, ever changing and increasingly stressful, dedicating some time to pause, reflect, heal, consolidate and find direction can prove invaluable.

During my time as counsellor I have worked with and supported many people  with a whole range of difficulties and challenges. Some of those have been specific and are mentioned elsewhere on this site but I have extensive experience working in more general practice and I am happy to “meet people wherever they are”

To commit to the counselling process is to make a profound commitment to yourself and if you are reading this right now then it would appear that you are getting ready to do that. It absolutely needs to feel right for you and I am happy to answer any questions or queries that you may have prior to or as a result of our assessment session and also prior to the commencement of any counselling work.
